Balin, son of Fundin, was one of the most renowned Dwarf heroes of his time. He led a troop of Dwarves to reclaim Khazad-dum, the mightiest of all the lost kingdoms of the Dwarves. At first he was successful and was crowned King of Moria, however later he was ambushed by goblins and killed.
